We are living in unprecedented times, arguably the most important period in human history. For the first time, human beings across the planet can both consume and create knowledge that becomes instantly accessible to vast groups of people regardless of geography, social status, or language. This proliferation of information, combined with revolutionary breakthroughs in science and technology, have created the greatest period of knowledge and invention in human history. Communication technologies are expanding access to information to people all across the planet. Free and open access to information is transforming nearly every aspect of the human experience, from science to art to politics to health. We are living through the next evolution of human existence, the next industrial revolution, a time of invention and creativity that will determine the future of the human race: the time when human beings will create the things that change the world, create the things that matter to us all.
While it is easy to be excited about this period, we face equally substantial challenges and resistance to this evolution. Change is never easy and many of the existing institutions will be required to transform and adapt, something often seen as a threat that must be prevented, attacked, or destroyed. These same technologies that are transforming the human experience are being employed to restrict and prevent free access to knowledge. Underneath the invention and collaboration expanding across the globe is a growing, deep-seeded conflict between nations, industries, and wealth. Knowledge is power and the dynamics of global power are shifting under the relentless momentum of this science and technology revolution.
Create Matter, LLC is a media and publishing company. We create websites, publications, videos, mobile applications, data sources, unique user-experiences, and works of art. We launch collaborative projects within our network of artists, creators, and technologists to create meaningful and important products and works. As technology enthusiasts, our projects tend toward digital experiences, visualizations, user-experiences, data access and knowledge management; however, we have a broad range of collective experience and see technology as a new and exciting artistic medium. As advocates of free and open access to knowledge, we pursue projects that expand access to important and relevant information.
